Of the true viral videos, the best come from the most unlikely of places like the backyard (basketball trick shots anyone?) or the local subway station (sometimes with cops on a power trip). Perhaps America’s Funniest Home Videos (one of the longest running user-generated TV programs), set the stage for what would become one of the greatest marketing tools of the modern era without even knowing it. Unfortunately, the recent proliferation of viral videos has spawned several maverick and clandestine companies that claim to be viral video companies. Be careful, most of them simply make commercials for the web at discount prices.

The first two are easy, the last one may take a while. It may very well fall flat on its face.
